AudioSpaces

About

AudioSpaces is about engaging with sound in the world.

We've built a platform for recording

Who is AudioSpaces for?

We work hard to make our tools as accessible as possible.

Since 2023, thousands of contributions have been made in dozens of countries, across five continents.

AudioSpaces contributors are as diverse as the sounds you'll find on the platform.

We welcome artists, organisations, communities and projects who find value for their own work.

But we encourage any listener who just wants to capture the sounds of everyday life.

Editorial

We have a newsletter exploring themes that emerge on the map, as well as original articles about sound, space and everything in between.

Since the beginning, we've also done original research on the platform and what its contributions say about cultures of listening. In 2025 we presented some of this at the International Conference of Sound and Technology at Hanyang University, Seoul.

Partnerships

We also work with partners on dedicated projects to transform their audio archives into engaging, immersive sonic experiences that reach beyond the screen.

If you're interested in working with us, we'd love for you to get in touch – even if you don't already have sounds, we can help you make them.

Team

At the moment, there are three of us in the core AudioSpaces team.

Support

To keep AudioSpaces free, open and operating according to our values, part of this plan includes support – from those who have the means and who see value in what we're doing.

We use Open Collective as a transparent way to contribute — see our Support page for the full story, tiers, and an embedded contribution form.

Any donation, one-off or recurring, is always highly appreciated.

Funding

We're keen to be transparent about where any outside funding comes from. Where possible, we will make our income sources clear here.

We've appeared in a few places over the past few years, for which we're proud and really thankful for.
