Sound as a medium for memory
AudioSpaces started as a way for people to explore sound as a medium for memory, and to explore listening — recording, mapping, and sharing the sonic life of places.
It sits at the intersection of Sound, Space, Memory and their counterparts — Silence, Time, and Erasure — six faces of one ecosystem for listening in the world.
Projects
Audio Garden
A listening and recording space for venues, festivals, and public spaces. A place for people to listen to recordings from an archive and express themselves through their own contributions, all with the purpose of creating a living sonic portrait for an event.
Seed Bank
A compact hexagonal listening and recording device for venues. Listen or record using the device, or contribute from anywhere via QR or link. Built to grow a shared sonic archive for a space.
